Old English and Norse Words

English speakers didn't know the ultimate origins of those words. They just knew that there were two different ways to the same word, and one just one out over time. egg is a good example of that. English had its own version of that word, which was a, but the norse word eg, with its hard g, replaced the english pronunciation. And we can also add in words like fog, rig, bag and gang, all of which came from old norse. We can imagine how the vikings might have brought these words with them.
