Is There a Limit on the Number of Boolean Operations on a Cell?

The idea ultimately would be some sort of Brownian ratchet, right? That the binding of the substrate changes the energy landscape and then there's actually after the hydrolysis, you remain with the product bound. The hope is that we can deform the rotational energy landscape in such a way as to get directed motion. But we have not convincingly demonstrated that now. If anybody has ideas about how to characterize these systems experimentally, we need help.
