Love everyone, my dear Philothea, with a great love of charity, but have no friendships except with those who can communicate with you in virtues. If your reciprocal communion is in charity, devotion, and Christian perfection, how precious will your friendship be? It will be excellent, for it comes from God. See Psalm 133 3. I consider all other kinds of friendships mere shadows in comparison with this,.
