The british were spending a lot of money in north america. They wanted the colonists to help with at least some of that burden, so they imposed a series of tariffs and duties over the course of the 17 sixties and early 17 seventies. But the colonists object. They start a boycot of all imported british products, principally tea. And it's for questions like these that we have revisionous history.
