One of the books that I has been most influential on my thinking over the last few years is Robert Gordon's book The Rise and Fall of American Growth. He argues that we've had unusually weak growth post-1970. And part of me just wonders, you know, what if the problem isn't automation? What if the problem is just that what we're doing isn't producing growth at all?
