I would imagine it was papal intervention which made the angels ridiculous. There's a rumour actually, that that leonardo painted, the wing is originally even smaller than that. And some later artist tumbled o the fact they ar bit smore and enlarged them but nothing like enough. The dilemma is this, you coyou accept that natural selection works. Once the wing is kind of almost there, the natural selection could perfect it and make it even better. But how does it start? How does the initial projection from the body that's going to become a wing eventually, how could natural selection work on that when it actually wouldn't work?"
