The Trial of John Folks

Colin Hatch was visiting a friend in prison when Folks attacked him. He tied his feet to the bed and strangled him for 30 seconds. Despite noises indicating that a struggle was underway, folks kept insisting that Hatch was still alive. When officers stormed the cell, they found folks there, and Hatch was dead. Later claimed he had heard voices in his head, and believed that Hatch was telepathically trying to communicate with him and asking him to kill him. After telling the court he'd not slept for 48 hours, he grinned at the public gallery where he locked eyes with the mother of Colin Hatch.
