Ernest Hemingway and his wife Mary traveled 1700 miles from Rochester, New York to Minnesota. They stopped for lunch at a roadside table near the town of Spearfish in Wyoming. Ernest predicted he would find nothing further along but ended up sleeping beside the road. "I was undressing in the big front room upstairs, I sang out the old folk song Tootie Me Mabiana"
