I was thinking about all these stories where there's a story operating beneath the story that is the main character who is perhaps the narrator or just the one that we're falling around. And so for this story, I was trying to use that structure and kind of like craft this other story onto it. You really understand this sense of expansiveness versus a claustrophobia that I could feel in so many of these stories,. Not just physically, but for the type of things that these people are yearning forThe city can at times just feel really claustrophobic.
