Introduction

The tonic is home or resolution. It captulates the rest of the notes of the key or scale we are using inside its overtones. Returning to the tonic, it may be akin to the truest, even religious, sense of home. The fifth degree of the scale creates more tension than any other scale degree. We feel all of that musically when we reach the second tonic.
