Designing Pain in a Virtual World

Pain is valuable. It serves a certain rule for us to signal when we are in danger or in bad conditions, when we want remove ourself from the situation. On the otherhand, there are forms of pain which seem to be much worse than they need to be and most notably, chronic pain. So at the very least, ien inside or outside a virtual world, one would hope to be able to re engineer the brain so you only get pain signals when they matter,. That's a question about a virtual world and just a question about how much we want to design our cognitive systems. When you look at a meteversar of virtual realities should people be allowed to commit crimes?
