Charlie would walk home via the off-licence in his village. An off-licences is a small shop that looks like a news agent, but just sells alcohol. So nearly all supermarkets can't sell alcohol in Australia and therefore the off- Licence or bottle shop - if you're a bit 'bogan' It's a necessity to have a bottle shop on the high street in Australia,. less so nowadays in England you can go to your local supermarket.
