A Brief History of Time by Leonard Peacock
I respect his creative ability to theorize. He seems to appreciate empirical evidence that would that that actually proves or disproves his theories. I don't think physicists do either anymore. It's only 200 pages. So it's digestible. But I highly recommend if you do read a brief history of time to go back and read Leonard Peacock's chapter six, if you've read Demopathies to see what he says.
