Is This a Clone or a Ghost?

This is adapted from a book. Although i've read the book, and the moves better. The move is quite a bit better. I think part of my problem comes from the fact that this movie tries to be like grounded in some kind of reality and then has space magic as part of it. It would have been a lot better if they'd saved that duplication machine reveal until, like, way later in the film. As it is, it's revealed like, a little after half way.
