The Sacking of Pete Best is one of the saddest episodes in rock and roll history. He simply wasn't a competent drummer but it crushed him. Anyone who's ever had a friendship that meant more to them than it did to the other person will be able to sympathize with how Pete felt on that level. It's hard to imagine just how much it must have hurt to be dropped from a band that was his whole life which he considered himself an equal member of.
