Sikh Women in History

Javala: We're using pre-colonial sources, largely Suraj Pragash and the Gurbalas texts from the 18th century. These are fascinating because they depict the stories of the women in a different way that has not been affected through colonial period for example. She says there's a diverse range of interaction that the women of the community had - it wasn't just warriors or providing martial assistance to things in battle. Javala hopes this will help future generations see that there's not just one path for them like we do as people.
