The pair were going to climb fuller ridge, which is known for being one of the most difficult peaks in North America. But as they got closer to the summit, John started having doubts about his plans. He was told by three well-equipped hikers not to go ahead with their plan because it would be too dangerous if he didn't have proper gear.
