The Role of Weapons in the Survival of the Friendly

People often talk about weapons as somehow leveling the playing field in this way. How about weapons as a group once you start having spears and you throw rocks you cannot just rise to the top as an individual because the group is always stronger than you. Yes that's the model that I have for what happened 300,000 years ago. If you cannot control violence then what you are left with is an alpha male who dominates others by brute force which is what happens in every other primate. That is this capacity for strategic violence that actually was the reason that friendliness was selected for is that right.
