Steven Spielberg and the PG-13 Rating
In the summer of 1984, Spielberg releases Indiana Jones on the Temple of Doom and Gremlins. Both were criticized for being too violent. The violence in Temple of Doom is actually probably George Lucas's fault because he was coming up with the story while he was getting divorced. He came up with the image of a man's beating heart being ripped out of his chest.
