The Importance of Difference in Meaning
Ceciard argues there is no evidence that the language we use has any relation to the world outside. What he argues is that meaning depends not on correspondence to something out there, a thing, in the world or an idea in our heads. And he argues from the point of view of translation, that if there were things in the world, which language named, there would be no problem of translation. But multiculturalism has now taught us that it's not as simple as that.
