The Role of Ideology in Mass Killings

I tend to think that the central motives for mass killings tend to be orientated around security. They're about things like military objectives in war, objective to defeat enemies or repress challenges during peacetime. So my argument is that ideology massively shapes how regimes and groups pursue those more conventional security goals. That's why I would call my approach kind of neo ideological rather than the more traditional ideological perspective.
