How to Climb Mount Everest

Is there some kind of qualification that you need to do to climb Mount Everest? Do you need to prove yourself physically in some way? I actually do not know the answer to that. As someone who's a little bit fascinated by the moon landings, I'm often asked what's the best book to read about the Apollo program. A man on the moon by Andrew Chakin is absolutely first rate and formed the basis for HBO's later mini series from the earth to the moon.
