The Atrocity Storyline
Most of the atrocity stories that they covered were eithe completely fabricated, or at the very least were grossly exaggerated. They tried to portray the german uboat warfare as being more sinister than it really was. And so hundreds of thousands of german civilians starved or ded of in related things like disease and malnourishment over the course of the war.
