The Operating System for Personal Computers

The very first compute didn't have user into faces really of any sort. The earliest versions of windows were largely just goe shells that were built on top of dos. Modern processes run in two modes, usea mode and kernel mode. If a programm wants to engage specially in io operations, it has to ask the operating system to go into kernel mode on its behalf. This is an example of what i mean by the operating system as software working in combination with the hardware.
