Introduction

The global average concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is now 420 parts per million, an increase of 50% since the Industrial Revolution. There are currently heatwaves across the world from the US to India to China. In the UK, the Met Office and Health Security Agency had to issue a heat alert a few days ago as temperatures hit the 30s.
