Are the Kalamas a Country Bumpkin?
Buddha came to a market town of the Kalamas called Kaisaputa. They don't meet the Kalamas anywhere else in the literature of the Pali Canal. This is the only place we meet them. But nevertheless they're very sincere, as I've made you follow them,. The Kalamas are not part of a broader cultural movement. And it sounds like the over time, this has led to a situation where the Kalamas can't anymore trust the opinions of these teachers who contradict each other.
