The Battle of Haliartus
Haliartus was right in thebes's back yard. Lysander would of course, be breaking one of the cardinal principles that the spartans ordinarily adhered to with great scruple, avoid attacking walled cities. Unknown to lysander, the thebans had somehow intercepted the message about his rendezvous point and they sent out their own troops in the middle of the night to occupy haliardus and keep it from defecting. Very well then, not by persuasion, but by force. Can he salvage it? Maybe.
