The Rooney Rule and the NFL

In the 20 years since the Rooney Rule was adopted, only one official punishment has ever been left. The NFL slapped an executive of the Detroit Lions with a $200,000 fine for not interviewing any candidate of the color before hiring a white coach. Gus told me about this guy who became the NFL's Rooney Rule evangelist. He called it the NFL's most significant export besides the game itself.
