Is There a Difference Between Online and Offline Representations?

It looks to me like representations could either be thought of as online representations or offline representations, which is the opposite. And my understanding from the literature is that an online representation is just the mental image you have as you experience the stimulus at the same time and then offline could be sort of like maybe the memory trace of the mental model you had or maybe your prediction about future states. You know, in our lab, we're interested in both those kinds of representations.
