Historically, the only people who ever seem to hold the line and kill legislation like this are corporatists. Progressives typically fold, claiming that getting something is better than getting nothing at all. But maybe, just maybe, this time is different. Climate change presents a threat level that is truly cataclysmic in its nature. And we've run out of time. Angramentalist arguments about how we'll get em on the next round just don't fly any more.
