The Evolution of Makeup
Professor Richard Russell is a psychologist who looks at the way makeup can change the way we perceive faces. He found that male faces have less contrast around the eyes and lips than females do. And so this contrast is really kind of a mark of female-ness or femininity. But when we think about makeup, it's almost always like things like eyehadow and no stick.
