Is This a Basic Idea Used in Science Fiction?

The premise is that there's this corporation, and they're doing some sort of secret project. In order to work on this secret project, you have to have a chip implanted in your brain. The chip severs your work life from your home life. And it's almost like your two different people who have no knowledge of what the other one is doing. It seems like an obvious enough idea that you would think that it would have been explored in science fiction before.
