The History of Pythagorean Silence

The Pythagorean movement properly speaking doesn't survive into the Hellenistic period as far as we can tell. What does survive though is a huge production of texts, purporting to be by Pythagoras himself or to expound Pythagorean wisdom. We've also seen perhaps the earliest reference to a secret society of initiates going underground. Next week, we'll finish our survey of all things Pythagorean with a whole episode devoted to the subject of the theme of Pythagorean silence.
