That's yet another example of using that verse and that idea from Scripture to justify maybe being too soft or too weak or too even cowardly to stand against unsound theology,. So how would you respond to that? Well I would just say the cross, theCross, the cross. You would never read the Bible and conclude that God's love is permissive, ever. Or the redemptive narrative wouldn't ever march toward a cross.
