The Importance of Interoperability in Healthcare
Epic in the past has received criticism and especially from competitors on being a closed system one that does not make it easy to exchange data. We invented interoperability actually because my husband who's a pediatrician his patient he had a patient who died when she went to the wrong emergency department and they didn't have her record. He kept saying if they knew what to do it would have been easy. So we started writing interoperability somewhere around 2005 so now this would be the 15th anniversary when we started interoperability.
