The Battle of Ionia

Lea Takhites sailed past in his ship and had his herald proclaim, Men of Ionia, all of you who can hear my voice, heed what I am about to say. His intention here was the same as that of Themistocles after Artemesium, in that either his words would go unnoticed by the Persians or he would persuade the Ionians to follow his advice. Afterwards, the Greek fleet disembarked from their ships and aligned themselves in battle formation on the shore facing the Persian garrison. Herodotus doesn't report the total number of Greeks who fought, but modern scholars suspect that there were about 200 ships in total and each could hold up to 200 people
