Children look to protect their parents because they are the ones that they look up to. They love them and so trying to protect a child by maybe removing them from their parents or their their own environment is almost re-traumatizing them, she says. "So a lot of the clinical experts, the family experts, look to be able to come up with plans to help the parents work towards the goal of maintaining the children at home"
