Can Politics Make Us Feel Depressed?
The author first came to the topic of depression when he was working at Penn State. He investigated how does depression shape the way we engage with politics and found that it has this profoundly demobilizing effect. The day after the election, I noticed a lot of people were very upset, visibly upset on campus. And it was clear that they were having a really difficult time processing the outcome of this election. It got me thinking, can politics make us feel depressed? And that's how I started.
