Mozilla's Roadmap to a Clean Code Base

In 1998, Eric A. Young wrote a roadmap for Netscape's future. He says the old code was "an electronic munition" that needed to be cleaned up. Mozilla worked with Parabazzi on an open-source version of SSL called OpenSSL. Spolsky: In 2003, AOL bought Netscape and set us up as its own foundation.
