How Should We Reason With Vague Concepts and Vague Language?
Even if we could be bothered to count the exact number of hairs on Tony Blair's head, we still wouldn't necessarily know whether he was bald or not. That doesn't mean that it's a fact of any great scientific importance, whether he's bald ornot. And even if the cut-off point for bald comes with, say, 900 hairs, we could have a different concept that was just as good which had the cut- off point at 901 hairs. It wouldn't matter, but the concept that we have draws a line in one place, even though you could have other equally valid concepts that drew a line in a different place.
