A craving is not a biological construct in fact over 80 percent of languages in the world do not have the word craving and many languages don't even have the word addiction. Research quite conclusively shows that the best way to kill a craving is to starve it so if you're not hungry you don't have cravings or binge eating can be treated very well by appetite management. Even stricter diets are often better, except for the forbidden fruit effect where you always have to be cognizant that you're making the choice to eliminate these foods rather than that you're selling them.
