How I Learned to Be Gay in Ireland
I didn't know there were any gay people when I was at university. Homosexual conduct was criminalized still in Ireland. So anyway, a bunch of us set up the campaign for homosexual law reform. We won that case pro bono. And then thankfully, a woman minister for justice, Mora Gagan Quinn, she changed the law. But way back in 1979 or 78, I was the first person on radio to suggest an answer to a question from a journalist about looking for the right to gay marriage.
