People are getting married later, and they're working for longer nd coming into marriages with more substantial debt. At 22, i didn't have shit to protect. At 27, i have over half a million dollars. It is a different calculus now than it used to be. If one spouse accrues a bunch of debt, that gets split evenly between both spouses too.
