'I Am a Dead Man. This Is a Mortal Wound'
Alexander hamilton was shot in the abdomen during a duel with vice president erin burr. He died 31 hours later on July 12, 1804. Americans were shocked and outraged by his death. Burr fled to philadelphia where he remained for two weeks before being caught up in an affair that brought new york city to a standstill. In place of a heart burr had only cinders right from the fires of hell.
