When you're a perfectionist, your brain catastrophizes and overestimates the possibility of bad things happening. Your body overreacts to things going wrong when in reality it's actually just pretty small. Instead of relaxing and tuning out for the party, you might spend weeks planning and then get pissed off that the glasses are not being used with coasters or something like that. So instead of being able to take a nap on the couch, you find yourself going over it again with a lint roller.
