The Importance of Principle in Political Discourse
When the American revolution happened, no taxation without representation was the rallying cry. Here we are a little more than a couple hundred years later and my level of taxation in the United States is about 30, 35 percent. So it turns out that taxation with representation is no picnic. But it was about principle back when. And I think we have to elevate our political discourse back to the level of principle. Can that happen? It can. Is it likely to happen? Yeah, probably not. How do I know? It rarely happens.
