Introduction
With the smartphone we can email and text and use a single app as a platform where we can be in constant touch with friends, parents and distant relatives. But is this a wholly welcome development? Do we want to be quite so connected? Recipients of unsolicited messages such as this are only marginally edited for brevity. Marc McCorma, professor of sociology at the University of Roehampton: Are we ready to accept that our immediate face-to-face loving contact with our partner or loved one is now being jeopardized by their constant, ongoing, ever attentive affair with their smartphone?
