The Importance of Third Grade Reading
Mississippi's Literacy-Based Promotion Act was passed in 2013. It allows for not just screening students, but providing interventions. Teachers are trained in the science of reading so they'll know how to respond to students who have reading difficulties. The state benefited from an enormous financial commitment by a particularly committed philanthropist named Jim's Mark Stale and his family.
