The Rooks were taken to their farmhouse to participate in a videotape reconstruction of the crime scene. On camera, Manuela made a sudden switch from her original story. Instead of describing how her mother had pushed her father down the stairs, she claimed that her fiancé Matthias had beaten Rudolf to death with a wooden club. Investigators weren't sure what to believe, each confession contradicted the other.
