Jen: I feel like quite a few people develop perfectionism as sort of a way of coping with it. They're actually using that fight or flight response that highly anxious response to try to kick their executive function into gear yeah but you can't maintain it forever and eventually people's nervous system does crash or they hit ADHD burnout, she says. Jen: Yeah the stick definitely hangs around doesn't it when you're in a pattern of criticizing yourself for everything it's a hard one to change.
